 Housing Workgroup

We invite you to join us in our effort to make Louisville a place where people of all ages and abilities can lead lives that thrive from stroller to walker. Click on the below workgroups to learn about our projects and how you can get involved! 

Vision: Louisville will have accessible and affordable housing with adequate maintenance resources to encourage aging-in-place.

Action Project No. 1

Increase the
number of home maintenance resources for older adults to ensure they can stay in their homes as long as possible.

Action Project No. 2

Increase the number of home builders in Louisville who have earned the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) certification from the National Association of Home Builders.

Objectives:
  1. Mobilize volunteers to support home maintenance and develop a sustainable model for all socio-economic levels. 
     

  2. Develop a Louisville Village for older adults.

  1. Mobilize builders to support home modifications, by increasing the number of home builders in Louisville who have earned the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) certification from the National Association of Home Builders. 
     

  2. Mobilize building supply companies to support home modifications. 

Meet Our Facilitator

Tanya Sallee

Tanya Sallee is a volunteer in the AARP Louisville community. She has volunteered for AARP for over three years, volunteered for CASA nearly three years and volunteers for the American Red Cross Disaster program. Tanya worked at the American Red Cross for roughly sixteen years and has now worked in the Information Technology field  for over thirty years. Tanya is the Facilitator for the Age Friendly Housing domain.
